Bioform Technology Wins CCIA's Seventh Annual Mining Cleantech Challenge

By: Colorado Cleantech Industry Association
DENVER - April 26, 2023 - PRLog -- Bioform Technologies, a Canadian company, won the Colorado Cleantech Industries Association's (CCIA) seventh annual Mining Cleantech Challenge Thursday, April 20, 2023 in Denver, Colorado. The seventh annual Mining Cleantech Challenge featured 12 innovative technology companies from the United States, Canada, Finland, and Australia. Each company was selected through a competitive vetting process by leaders and technology experts in the mining industry. Technologies introduced at the Mining Cleantech Challenge offered sustainable solutions to the mining industry.

"The mining industry is confronted by increasing global demand for metals and minerals, while at the same time it is facing environmental, safety and regulatory pressures to reduce the amount of water in their tailings. Bioform's drag reduction technology significantly reduces the power required for the pipeline transport of dense slurries, allowing for tailings to be thickened to much higher concentrations and still be transported via a pipeline to the deposition site. This allows for the amount of water entering the tailings storage facility to be significantly reduced without the use of expensive options such as conveyors or trucks," CEO of Bioform Technologies, Jordan MacKenzie, stated of their winning technology. Alterna Materials was the second-place winner, with Nu-Rock coming in third place.

"The Mining Cleantech Challenge provides an opportunity to bring together innovators and mining industry leaders," said Mary Austin, CCIA's executive director. "This year's winners highlighted the importance of pushing the technological boundaries and advancing efficiency, processes, and productivity in the mining space.

CCIA and its sponsors, who act as judges, were extremely impressed with the caliber of the companies that presented in this seventh iteration of the MCC. I am confident that the exposure and continued connections will yield positive outcomes for all involved, and the mining industry at large shall benefit thanks to this program."
