SINGAPORE & BERLIN - July 12, 2023 - PRLog -- After winning 12 international film awards, the short film The Nocturne, produced by Joe Zheng and directed by Fan Xun Lilac, will have its world premiere in Montreal, Canada, on July 15 as the in person premiere film for Canada China International Film Festival (CCIFF). At the same time, they are working on their next project, which will bring together Chinese and Singaporean filmmakers in an attempt to bring to the big screen a story about the interdependence of overseas Chinese and ethnic minorities in Singapore.

Since the beginning of 2023, "The Nocturne" has been successful, and has won the 2023 American IndieFest Film Festival Female Filmmaker Award of Excellence, the Asian Film Award, Bronze Remi Award at the 56th WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival, etc. "The Nocturne" has been favored by major international film festivals, representing a different perspective of the new ethnic Chinese film force today, and also allowing domestic and foreign film industry practitioners and audiences to see unlimited potential.

Introducing Nocturne, the Tokyo Lift-off Film Festival said, "We are proud to present a groundbreaking film that is sure to captivate audiences around the world. 'The Nocturne,' directed by Fan Xun Lilac and written by the same, is a stunning work of art that seamlessly blends English and Mandarin Chinese to create a truly unique cinematic experience. The film features an incredible cast, including Daniel Jenkins and Fan Xun Lilac herself, and tells a story that is both thought-provoking and emotionally resonant."

At present, producer Joe Zheng and director Fan Xun Lilac are working hard to prepare their next project, Grandfather's Garden, which attempts to tell the story of the interdependence of an old Chinese with a dual identity and an Indonesian domestic worker in Singapore. Fan Xun Lilac has lived in Singapore for 15 years and has noticed, consciously or unconsciously, the life experiences of non-Chinese minorities. She wants to bring their stories back from the restricted, untranslated public communities of their mother tongue.

At this time, the film will be supervised by an assistant professor from the University of Southern California, USA and invited a senior Chinese director of photography, to work with outstanding local filmmakers in Singapore to promote cooperation between the two countries. The film will dig deeper into the concept of the spiritual home of mankind and reveal a more holistic perspective.
