Midwest & Co. Debuts Their First-Ever Hospitality Project

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Oct. 16, 2023 - PRLog -- Midwest and Co., the Kansas City-based interior design firm, debuts its first hospitality project, Hemma Hemma, in collaboration with Chef Ashley Bare. Originating from their residential design expertise, the firm transformed a 5,000-square-foot space into a welcoming haven in Waldo/Brookside.

Rooted in a passion for livable design, Midwest and Co. sought to style a truly unique experience. Founders Janna Coglizer and Megan Shepherd collaborated closely with Chef Ashley Bare to bring the concept from doorstep delivery to its first brick-and-mortar. The restaurant, known for its fresh, seasonal, and nourishing-centric meals, made its soft debut on September 21, 2023, with a grand opening set for October 2023. Hemma Hemma, translating to "at home" in Swedish, embodies the restaurant's ambiance and ethos, making Midwest & Co. the perfect design partner.

"We enjoyed working with Ashley, combining her vision with our design aesthetic, to create a space that feels collected and welcoming. It's an elevated, yet cozy space that feels like home…but with better food," says Shepherd.

The restaurant boasts a thoughtfully designed layout comprising five distinct areas: the main dining room, instructional kitchen, coffee bar, a marketplace offering signature grab-and-go meals, and an inviting outdoor seating area. Additionally, a basement room is available for rent, ideal for hosting events. Overall, it's a warm and inviting ambiance, imbuing a sense of homeliness complete with vintage furniture, floral and tartan wallpaper, white marble tabletops, and long, luxurious banquettes.

"When you take your first step inside Hemma Hemma, you will feel right at home. It's the warm and inviting feeling you get when walking into your Grandma's house, but better (sorry Grandma)," says Coglizer. "The design is intended to feel like a home with different spaces and functions. Partnering with Ashley on her distinctive vision and adding our elevated design made this a dream project and something we hope to do more of."

The modern-meets-at-home aesthetic embodies a well-designed, playful, and edited-maximalist home, filled with lively patterns and cozy touches across various spaces.
