NEW YORK - Dec. 14, 2023 - PRLog -- Interintellect, an online platform claiming to have reinvented the art of the French salon for the 21st century - was founded by serial entrepreneur and London local Anna Gát in 2016 in an attempt to facilitate healthy intellectual discussion online.

As the platform's small member base quickly snowballed into what Anna describes as a "warm, proactive, engaged global community of minds", Interintellect has gone on to host thousands of online and in-person events (called "salons") for its worldwide audience in the tens of thousands - ranging in subject from historic fiction, to liberalism, to the art of a witty comeback.

Founder Anna, who has worked as a journalist, editor, translator, screenwriter and playwright as well as co-founding Hungary's leading women's rights platform (for which she later won a Glamour Woman of the Year award), describes how building the platform has created a rare space on the internet where civil discourse can take place.

"It was beautiful to find out that you can build conversation spaces relying on people's natural kindness, patience and curiosity. We've had thousands of online events hosting people from all kinds of geopolitical areas coming together as strangers and leaving as friends. Our conversations are non-political in the widest sense - there's no agenda, and we're not selling you any product or worldview. We're there to learn together. The civility and kindness of Interintellect salons is due to a few simple rules we follow. Events are paid, people use their camera and real names, and if someone needs to leave early they let the host know."

Interintellect salons are evening-length online conversations - typically lasting one to three hours. With tickets available for as little as £8 for non-members and a global member base of all cultures, religions, gender identities, and socioeconomic backgrounds, Interintellect began to attract the attention of big players in the industry.

After a successful preliminary round of funding securing investments from the likes of economist Tyler Cowen, former GitHub CEO Nat Friedman, former Coinbase CTO Balaji Srinivasan, and venture capital firm Bloomberg Beta, Interintellect has since gone on to raise a further $1,115,400 in investment from the likes of former Reddit CEO Yishan Wong, founder and CEO of Gumroad Sahil Lavingia, Kaban co-founder and YC partner Holly Liu, Entrepreneur First co-founder Matt Clifford, venture capitalist Jim O'Shaughnessy, and Twitch CEO Emmett Shear - with the majority of funds coming from billionaire venture capitalist Tim Draper, who has also invested in the likes of SpaceX, Tesla, Uber, and Coinbase.

"We have a very eclectic group of investors combining their world-class expertise and I think that shows the potential of this platform and how wide-reaching it truly can be."
