Pembroke Hill Junior Student Krishan Myrick Explores Opportunities with LSAMP Program at Ole Miss

OXFORD, Miss. - March 21, 2024 - PRLog -- Krishan Myrick, a junior student at Pembroke Hill Private School, has recently engaged with Ms. Jacquline A. Vinson, Project Coordinator of the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) Program at the University of Mississippi.

Krishan, known for her passion for literature, entrepreneurship, and basketball prowess, met with Ms. Vinson to discuss her future academic endeavors. With a keen interest in sports management, Krishan has decided to pivot her focus and major in technology at the University of Mississippi, with sports management as her minor. Expressing eagerness to explore the opportunities presented by mentors in the African American community, Krishan highlighted her commitment to both academics and athletics.

"I am eager to delve into the academic realm of technology while also benefiting from the mentorship and guidance of esteemed individuals within the African American community," remarked Krishan.

Under the tutelage of basketball trainer Clyde Harvey Sr., Krishan intends to maintain a strong emphasis on basketball alongside her academic pursuits. Although Krishan expressed disappointment in not meeting with women's basketball recruit Brianna Patton, she conveyed her unwavering support for the Ole Miss women's basketball team as they compete in the NCAA tournament.

Reflecting on her family's roots in Mississippi, Krishan acknowledged the influence of mentors such as Dr. Donald Cole and his wife, Marcia. Ms. Jacquline Vinson, whose own career trajectory has been shaped by her association with Dr. Cole, emphasized the transformative impact of mentorship on minority students.

"Krishan will be alright. This program will open doors that have not been previously open. I am sure Krishan will do well at the University of Mississippi. ," commented Ms. Vinson.

Krishan's decision to pursue her academic and athletic aspirations at the University of Mississippi reflects her admiration for the successes achieved by individuals like Dr. Cole and his wife, as well as her desire to contribute positively to her community.
