DASMARINAS, Philippines - April 29, 2024 - PRLog -- Jongman Park, a prominent figure in the Philippine textile industry and a dedicated philanthropist, has announced the establishment of La Casa FilKo, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting KOPINO children in the Philippines.

Mr. Park, originally from Korea, arrived in the Philippines in 1996 to spearhead the PEZA facility set-up for a Korean paper manufacturing company. His extensive experience in the region spans over 28 years, encompassing not only his initial role as a regional general manager but also his leadership in establishing Park Apparel, a thriving textile engineering and apparel manufacturing firm. Launched in 1998, Park Apparel grew significantly under Mr. Park's guidance, employing over 2,000 individuals at its peak and supplying major American brands like DKNY.

Beyond his entrepreneurial success in textiles, Mr. Park also leveraged his expertise in material science by working on the implementation of a manufacturing plant for Lime, formerly known as  Finetex EnE, a Korean material science company (2007-2015). This experience further solidified his commitment to innovation and growth within the Philippines.

However, Mr. Park is deeply committed to giving back to the Philippines, a country that has embraced him for nearly three decades. He recognizes a growing social concern surrounding KOPINO children – those born from Korean fathers, often sex tourists, and abandoned Filipino mothers. Driven by a strong sense of responsibility as a Korean citizen who has thrived in the Philippines, Mr. Park founded La Casa FilKo to address this critical issue.

La Casa FilKo aspires to empower tens of thousands of KOPINO children residing in the Philippines. The organization will provide much-needed support through vocational training, educational opportunities, and resources fostering personal and professional growth.

Mr. Park commented, "The Philippines has been my home away from home for a significant part of my life. While I have enjoyed success here, I am deeply aware of the challenges faced by KOPINO children. La Casa FilKo is my way of giving back to this remarkable country and advocating for these vulnerable young people. We are dedicated to empowering them with the tools they need to build brighter futures."
