West Park Arts Fest Celebrates 16 Years! Bringing Arts and Culture to West Fairmount Park

 
PHILADELPHIA - April 30, 2024 - PRLog -- Presented by West Park Cultural Center, the 16th West Park Arts Fest will bring people of all ages together in West Fairmount Park on Saturday, June 8th, from 1:00 to 6:00 pm. This free, family-friendly event occurs in West Fairmount Park on South Concourse Drive from East Memorial Hall Drive to 41st Street, celebrating Philadelphia's arts and cultural diversity while promoting greater awareness of the area's history and heritage.

This summer kick-off features two stages:
  • The Music Stage/ will feature live music with Neo Soul, Alt Rock/R&B, Blues, and Jazz Fusion. Five outstanding bands will perform, including Jahwula, Blues Reincarnation Project, MOBLUZ, Gab Preston Sounds-GPS, and The Healed Project with Roxi Fab as Host.
  • The Second Stage will showcase outstanding professional and youth dance, music, and spoken word talent, featuring West Park Cultural Center's danceLogic, Isa Latin Rhythms, Karly Meehan Dance, Lindo James (spoken word), Breia Smalley (spoken word,) and more to be announced.

The children's activity zone includes artmaking activities led by some of our partners, face painting, science, the Fairmount Park Conservancy "Play Space," and other activities for all ages. The Handmade Marketplace will feature as many as 60 art/craft and other vendors. The always popular historical trolley tour of the Fairmount Park Centennial District, narrated by Kathy Lee, provides an entertaining 40 minutes of area history.

Beautiful West Fairmount Park provides the site and backdrop for the festival that has brought record crowds and drawn praise from festival-goers of all ages. The festival embraces partnership and has, over the years, been made possible significantly by the participation of many arts, cultural, and community partners across Philadelphia. West Park Arts Fest partners include The Mann, Please Touch Museum, Japan America Society, Tree House Books, Philadelphia Zoo, Franklin Institute, Philly Children's Theatre, Mill Creek Community Partnership, Independence Seaport Museum, and more to be announced.
