May 4, 2007 - PRLog -- Mumbai, 5th  May, 2007: The Book titled “Dhirubhaism” written by AG Krishnamurthy was released by Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director, Reliance Industries Limited in a simple function in Mumbai today.

Dhirubhaism—The remarkable work philosophy of Dhirubhai Ambani – by AG Krishnamurthy is an attempt to capture the unique insights that Dhirubhai shared with the author during their long association. Accompanied by a Foreword by Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman of Reliance Industries Ltd., in which he reaffirms his father Dhirubhai’s unique ability to bring out the extraordinary in ordinary folk, this book is a handy compendium for all those who have often been curious about the ability of Reliance to build mammoth projects in seemingly impossible environments.

Dhirubhaism, like most other isms is a philosophy or an attitude. The author, having closely observed Dhirubhai’s style of functioning has presented fifteen of them. They are not complicated attitudes either – they are simple viewpoints. But executing them took courage and as a consequence showed spectacular results. For example – one of the Dhirubhaisms is “Bet on your people”. At the root of it, it entreats the reader to trust the employee to execute a job, after a judicious assessment of his caliber. But the trust that it advocates is that of complete faith and not half measures. Complete faith in the person’s ability to execute a project accommodating his weaknesses, not being ignorant of it. This is the uniqueness of a Dhirubhaism. Stretching the limits of simple truths. Or rather, living it completely.

The book, like the previous two: Invisible CEO and Desi Dream Merchants by AG Krishnamurthy is simple, crisp to the point and engrossing. The easy narrative is bound to keep the average Indian reader turning the page without the need to consult a dictionary. It is an effective echo of Dhirubhai’s famed ability to communicate his message in short, clear sentences.

Dhirubhaism is a slim volume of 96 pages and would probably take the reader all of an hour to read it all. Contemplating each Dhirubhaism, the efforts it probably took Dhirubhai to live it, the impact of its spectacular success is probably what will make a reader go back to the book again and again. This is definitely a book to buy and keep and even a good one to gift aspiring Dhirubhais. The names on the cover give the book all the endorsement that it needs — all three formidable leaders in their respective fields: Dhirubhai, Mukesh Ambani and AG Krishnamurthy! The book is published by Tata McGraw Hill under their Leadership Essentials Series.

Mr. A G Krishnamurthy is a History graduate from the University of Andhra Pradesh, but his greatest gurus, as he points out have been three of India’s brightest stars, Giraben Sarabhai, Dhirubhai Ambani and Dr. Verghese Kurien. With teachers like these, it is but natural that he, on behalf of the agency he nurtured, received the number of awards and the accolades (844 in all) that he did. But awards are secondary when compared to the brands he helped build – Vimal and Rasna, besides an institution for the advertising fraternity – MICA. In 1995, Mr. Krishnamurthy was nominated Advertising Person of the Year by A & M, India’s leading marketing journal. In 1997, he was inducted by The Advertising Club, Calcutta, into their `Hall of Fame’. The British Magazine `Media International’ in December 1998 nominated Mr. A. G. Krishnamurthy as one of the 25 key figures of the international advertising industry. In 1999, he was awarded the prestigious AAAI – Premnarayen Award in recognition of “his pioneering spirit and entrepreneurial vision”.
