June 3, 2007 - PRLog -- This is the story of two 20-year-old women who share the same name - Nana. Oosaki Nana is a punk vocalist hoping to break through the mainstream music industry by resurrecting her band, Black Stone (Blast). Komatsu Nana, sometimes called Hachi, is a sweet young woman who goes to Tokyo to prove her independence and be with her long distance boyfriend.

By fate, the two meet at the train to Tokyo and end up living together as roommates. Though coming from different background and having different personalities, they become best friends. Their world finding another similarity as Hachi's favorite band, Trapnest, happens to have Nana's old boyfriend, Ren, as their guitarist.

The world of Nana is a world exploding with sex, music, fashion, gossip and all-night parties. It is heavily influenced by western culture. Sex Pistols was cited a number times in story itself, while the character Ren Honjo was modeled after Sid Vicious as a bassist, his style, even his chain and padlock necklace as well as his relationship with Nancy. Top fashion designer Vivienne Westwood was also cited throughout the story; her designer clothes used as Nana Oosaki’s outfit and her trademark logo used in the art in different ways.

Nana, in turn, has become a big influence to so many people today, breaking barriers like age, race and culture. Such is the fans' love for Nana that July 7, 2007 has been designated as International NANA Day with celebrations all over the world like Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Philippines, Germany, USA, Puerto Rico, Mexico and more.

In the Philippines, the celebration will be held at the RnB Music Venue at Metrowalk. The event will begin at exactly 7:07 pm. Promptly named "707" International NANA Day - Philippines, Filipinos will present a rock concert paying homage to the series NANA by Ai Yazawa Sensei.  Songs from NANA original soundtrack and tribute albums will be performed by the bands 3 Day Trial, Armada, Do’Ahou, Ducklings, Himitsu Heiki, Neotaku, PPF All-Stars, Progeny, Rtschrck, Sourei, This Side Up, and X Versus Zero.
