Dec. 7, 2007 - PRLog -- Emerging indie band Vampire Weekend(XL Recordings) have recently completed the final touches on their highly anticipated debut album at premier NY mastering facility,The Lodge.
The album was mastered by The Lodge’s Chief Mastering Engineer, Emily Lazar (assisted by Joe LaPorta) prior to the band’s fall 2007 European/North American tour.

Founded in 1997 by Emily Lazar in the heart of New York City’s Greenwich Village, The Lodge is equipped with state-of the-art mastering, DVD authoring, surround sound and specialized recording studios.  With a unique collection of vintage outboard gear and digital work stations, The Lodge has attracted a wide spectrum of artists across all genres of music including David Bowie, The Shins, Lou Reed, RZA (of the Wu Tang Clan), Asobi Seksu, Garbage, Depeche Mode, DJ Tiesto and Destiny’s Child.

“It’s been such an honor working with Vampire Weekend and I would be thrilled to work with them again”, added Lazar.”Putting a record together is such a massive undertaking and it’s refreshing to see bands recording and producing the entire thing.”

Vampire Weekend formed in early 2006 while attending Columbia University, debuting a blend of unusual African based rhythms, infectious hooks and self-proclaimed “Upper West Side Soweto” style for campus literary societies and parties.
Their influences vary from Afro-pop to western classical music and their music has already garnered plenty of media praise with mentions in The New York Times and Nylon Magazine.  The album was recorded, mixed and produced by the band’s keyboardist Rostam Batmanglij in a variety of locations including a radio station.

In a recent Rolling Stones Magazine interview, Coldplay frontman, Chris Martin, had mentioned the band, citing one of their popular songs “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa” as a song to look out for.

The self-titled album is slated for a late January 2008 release.
