Dec. 24, 2007 - PRLog -- Houdini, the magical music video from indie rock troubadour Jim Camacho, will make its European premiere on Glimz, the leading Scandinavian video-on-demand service for quality shorts, animation and documentaries. The debut is set for 30 December.

Houdini just keeps going,” Camacho says from his home in Miami, USA. “We shot this video in Baltimore in 2005 while I was in the middle of a tour. The fact that this music video has survived for so long and continues finding new audiences floors me! But I’m so happy that it’s finding a home in Europe. That’s really exciting!”

Glimz.net is the awarded film-on-demand web site for Scandinavian short and documentary films. Funded in part by a grant from the Swedish Government and The Foundation for the Culture of the Future, Glimz.net screens shorts, documentaries, animated film in DVD quality directly via broadband.

Glimz was founded in 2003 and has since recieved awards as "Entertainment Site of the Year" in Internetworld´s prestigious ranking, "Best Right Now" by movie magazine Ingmar, and "Site of the Month" by PC För Alla. The network is in co-operation with Åland´s Film Institute, Stockholm International Film Festival, and the EU-supported German film distribution organisation Reelport.

Since its premiere at Miami’s Globo Theater in 2005, Houdini has screened around the United States winning national awards including a Telly Award and a Gold Remi at the 40th Annual WorldFest International Film Festival in Houston, Texas.

Many indie rock fans know Camacho from his days fronting the legendary '90s rock band The Goods. Since the band's breakup in 1999, Camacho has released three records. Houdini appears on his album, Stalker Songs (TMG/Broken Records/Doink), released through Synergy Distribution.

Houdini is an effects-heavy surrealist video that finds Camacho strapped in a straight jacket hanging upside down suspended by chain links over a bottomless gorge in a dark hell-like world reminiscent of something from a Tim Burton movie. It is described as an allegorical interpretation of love’s potent (if not creepy) power to capture a heart in a hold so complex even master escape artist Harry Houdini couldn’t break free.

Veteran director and Emmy-nominee Steven Fischer helmed the video’s production. Fischer’s career includes animated and live action videos, commercials and documentaries recognized for excellence by the Directors Guild of America, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the Cine Golden Eagle Awards, and The New York Festivals. Fischer is primarily a documentary producer whose work for audiences in the UK and the US includes Freedom Dance starring Law & Order star Mariska Hargitay and Now & Forever Yours: Letters to an Old Soldier starring Katie Tschida.
