Follow on Google News | Plenary Publishing Seeks Emerging African-American Literary TalentPlenary Publishing is currently seeking author submissions. The company offers author advances and royalties, and seeks manuscripts reflecting the diversity and depth of the African-American cultural experience.
Plenary’s mission is to develop and to publish stories that depict the depth and beauty of the African-American community. In doing so, the company seeks to enhance the depiction of African-Americans, inspire its target audience to actively improve their lifestyles and create new opportunities for authors of color. Tieffa N. Harper, Plenary’s founder, commented: “The start-up phase has been an exciting time for us. We launched a company that not only wants to entertain our readers, but seeks to inspire, educate or motivate them to achieve their vision of the American dream. This is the driving force of our company, and we’re encouraged by the response and reception to our efforts.” Plenary will publish books in several fiction genres, including: contemporary fiction, children and juvenile literature, Christian/inspirational fiction, romance and mystery/thriller/ The company will operate as a traditional publisher that offers author advances and royalties, but it will also focus on author development and marketing support. Harper stated: “We’re limiting the number of books that we publish in a given year because of our desire to support each author and his or her literary dream. We’re committed to author development, top-notch design and production, and to providing aggressive marketing support to maximize each author’s success.” The company will initially release books in trade paperback, E-Book and audio book formats, and will begin to release new books in 2009.
