Darren Farris's Hit Song "Jenna," Receives a "Monster" Honor

Darren Farris's hit song "Jenna," wins a much coveted spot on the Monster Vox 2008 Compilation CD.

June 1, 2008 - PRLog -- After several weeks of voting and entries from bands around the world, Monster Vox, Inc. has concluded the search for their 2008 Compilation Disk. Darren Farris's melodramatic,  pop-rocker "Jenna," will be a featured track on the disk.

Monster Vox is well known for having one the most transparent, accurate music rating systems available. They literally bring the battle of the bands to the cyberspace era. Hot songs are voted on by registered members, with a wide variety of critiquing features. The Monster Vox system seems very reminiscent of the early days of radio, where 45 RPM records were pitted against each other, "Mono-a-mono,"  but in a more constructive atmosphere, where you can actually back up your vote by critiquing various aspects of the song. After making your vote, you are allowed to make a personal comment or review. One of the features that set Monster Vox apart from similar charting systems, is that several security features are built in to prevent abuse and voting on your own material, so you are assured of a fairly accurate end result. Over 500 copies of the compilation will be sent to radio stations and publications, featuring the victors of various of genres.

"Darren had some really stiff competition to win a spot on that CD," says Gordon (Gordy) Levine, Darren's personal advisor and president of Levine Promotions. "Most of the bands that were chosen were absolutely phenomenal, as well as most of the contenders that were not chosen. I think Darren's Power-pop, rockin' edge will compliment their CD very well, and is likely to stick out. This song [Jenna] seems to strike a chord in every arena it enters," says Levine, of the singles almost instant success.

Framed in a catchy, almost hypnotic melody, "Jenna," is a melodramatic tale of love gone sour, that lyrically, leaves the listener digging for more answers.

"That's just how I write," says Farris of his abstract writing style. "I write a little for the listener, and a little for myself. It's a peaceful coexistence. I bring a lot of different elements into the lyrics that have meaning in my life. However, I realize those things may seem mysterious to the casual listener. I think that's why it's imperative that I make sure my hooks and melodies stand out. That way, if people don't "get it" lyrically, then you always have the "damn that sounds good" safety net, to fall back on," laughs Farris.

Darren's passion for writing can be felt in his new album "Psychopathic Issues," which has already won him many accolades and strong foothold in the music world. Although, "Jenna," seems to be saturating the internet, nearing almost half of a million plays on radio, internet streams and in-demand, in only the first month of release, the real push to take the song to a broader audience has been delayed until Summer of 2008.

"We just did not expect so much success on the internet. It is truly the future for music. We do everything we can to just keep up with it all," says Levine. "We have never seen an artist catch fire and gain so much respect, so fast. We avoid "hype" so it's not a fly by night success- it's deep rooted, unlike your typical pop musician. We get letters from Goths, Metal Heads, Blues guitarists and even Teeny Boppers. People just seem to connect with his [Darren's] message. This kid writes, produces and stands behind his music, the way a parent stands behind their child. He loves Rock and Roll and is absolutely dedicated to it, like no musician I have ever worked with. A lot has been accomplished, in the last month.  Darren has already sold out at Amazon several times, hit #1 on a multiple charts, including consistently gracing the MySpace Top 100 artist and currently has 3 tracks in heavy rotation on BBS, the internets #1 World Wide Talk Radio Network, just to name a few. I am sure at some point he will dump us [Levine Promotions] and move on to bigger outfits, laughs Levine. "But, I will tell you, I have never wanted to see someone succeed, or met a musician, as deserving as Darren."

Darren's "Monster Smash," album, "Psychopathic Issues," is available in record stores and online through GRM Records.
