By: Boston Tea Party "There are two main goals for a third party campaign," says Charles Jay, of Hollywood Florida. "The first is building a bigger, better party for the future. The second is getting votes in November. The first part of the ad campaign focused on building the party. The second will be more oriented toward reinforcing name recognition for next Tuesday in states where voters can pull the lever for us." This is Jay's second presidential campaign, and the party's first. In 2004, Jay appeared on the ballot in Utah as the Personal Choice Party's candidate. The Boston Tea Party nominated him in an online convention in June, and he's since secured ballot access in Colorado, Florida and Tennessee. He'll also be a write-in option in a number of other states. The Boston Tea Party's national membership passed 500 earlier this month, leading up to its second biennial national convention last weekend. It now boasts affiliates in 12 states and plans to run aggressive party-building and ballot access campaigns leading into the 2010 election cycle. Its platform is a single sentence: "The Boston Tea Party supports reducing the size, scope and power of government at all levels and on all issues, and opposes increasing the size, scope and power of government at any level, for any purpose."
