Feb. 6, 2009 - PRLog -- Perhaps not a household name, but Mike Burro has been hammering out his stamp on multiple genres of music for nearly 25 years. Born in Trenton and raised in Columbus, New Jersey, Burro is marking another year, with a few shows that are VERY close to his home. The first will be Saturday February 28th, at Hamilton Lanes in Hamilton, New Jersey. The second will be Saturday April 4th at The Corner House Tavern in his native Columbus.

Now, Mike has worked with a lot of people over the years, and has dabbled in many styles, but in recent years has been best known for his work with Sloterdijk, and The One Eyed Bishops. Sloterdijk is a 'space-rock' outfit that he first put together in The Netherlands back in the fall of 1996. The 'OEBs' as they are known, are a blues/boogie band that began in 2002.  Although the two bands are very different in sound, they do have a few things in common, one of which is oddly the UK band Hawkwind, for whom both often pay homage. Mike was a long time fan, but he and Hawkwind ( or members of Hawkwind past and present ) did not actually cross paths until the summer of 1999 when Sloterdijk performed at 'The 4th North German Hawkwfan Festival ' in Hamburg Germany. In the years since he has appeared on several Hawkwind related CDs, and performed at the band's first 'Hawkfest' in 2002.

In 2003, The 'Bishops'  recorded an album in England, which included guests such as The Downliners Sect, Bill Kingston of  The Wild Angels, Phil Smith of Headsmith, and skiffle legend Chas Mcdevitt. Even 'Deviant' Mick Farren contributed a spoken word piece.
Later that year, Mike struck up a friendship with 'Stewkey' Antoni, the leader of the legendary Philadelphia 60's psych/pop band 'Nazz'. Stewkey has guested with The OEBs many times and is always a welcome face in the night's lineup. 2004 brought The Bishops back to The UK for a summer tour, and the return of lead guitarist Phil Smith. Paul Hirsh of Status Quo joined the band for a show in Barnett, and the list goes on. On this side of the Atlantic stalwarts  like bassist Jeff Berry, guitarist Greg Elwell, drummer Russ T. Blades and Burro's long time friend, percussionist Jay Adcock have all helped to round out the sound.

For early 2009,  Mike is dropping the 'OEB' monniker and that means pretty much anything is up for grabs. The 'Mike Burro & friends' shows will reach into all the bags; skiffle, blues, UK  r&b, psychedelia, and everything in between. Expect to hear unique covers of Hawkwind, honoring the band's 40th anniversary, Status Quo, Willie Dixon, Donovan, and more..It's all game.  In addition the  2003 OEB album 'School of Rock-n-Roll', mentioned above has been re-released by  UK label Blueriff Records, and is available exclusively through their website at:  Blueriff Records http://www.myspace.com/blueriffrecords
