March 30, 2009 - PRLog -- Andrew Carricarte, president, IOS Health Systems and Dan Rodgers, CEO, MedCo Data, share a vision. They both believe quality electronic and clinical software is the best way to improve patient care initiatives.

"It's certainly the most effective way to streamline practice workflow while tightening revenue cycle management," Rodgers told the Miami Chamber members on March 4, 2009.

Both Health Information Technology leaders feel the market is flooded with expensive software and underpowered solutions that leave the physician and their practice unprepared to meet the challenges that going digital can carry.  Together, they say their companies have the software, infrastructure, implementation strategies and support to make the process seamlessly successful on both the practice management and clinical fronts.  IOS Health Systems developed a hosted solution (ASP) that takes the pressure off the practice for housing and maintaining a client-server system.

“We’re changing the way software is being delivered to healthcare by providing easy-to-use, completely adaptive and low cost solutions for physicians to manage their practice from check in to payment.” stated Carricarte. "If it slows the practice down or impedes the current workflow, it won’t last."

According to Technology for Doctors by Diane Craig almost half the EHR software installed is uninstalled or discarded as a result of functionality and implementation complications. Rodgers notes that these numbers are based on figures from 2007 or earlier and include a large number of software vendors that are not CCHIT certified. Regardless, many physicians are understandably resistant to adopt electronic record solutions when the industry experience has been clouded.

The question posed by Healthcare Informatics is, "Can we do better than the average?"  "I believe the answer is yes, especially since the bar is set so low, but it will require a different approach to EHR implementation, one focused on system value (benefits) instead of just technical success or process changes, " said Anthony Guerra, editor-in-chief, Healthcare Informatics.

MedCo Data and IOS Health Systems agree with Guerra. They have an affordable turnkey solution that reduces the cost of entry, removes risk, and provides clear return on investment objectives. With more than 200 installs and a 100 percent satisfaction rate, the process is obviously working.

Both companies expect this partnership to double the distribution levels and improve the overall implementation process for 2009. "We provide a full service approach to adopting an electronic medical record system with complete equipment and workflow integration. Our success depends entirely on the success of the physician who chooses our suite of solutions. We take that very seriously," said Rodgers.

“Most importantly this partnership allows us to strengthen what we value as the most important aspects of our business- service,” added Carricarte.

About MedCo Data: MedCo Data was established for the primary purpose of helping healthcare professionals improve, expand and evolve their services through the use of technology and electronic health records. Well before the election and the resulting HITECH Act, MedCo Data was laser focused on paving the way for practices, clinics and hospitals to adopt software and systems that streamline health care.

MedCo Data specializes in infrastructure designed for supporting Electronic Health Records. The first step is often deciding which software is right for the way the practice currently functions. MedCo Data's consultants use a criteria based check list to evaluate the pre-existing back office and clinical workflow. Based on those results, a series of demonstrations are scheduled with matched CCHIT certified software vendors at the physician and supporting staff's convenience.
