The eco-minded decorating firm is launching a whole new platform for green business combining profit and non profit, using our own consumer desires to promote charitable giving.
“Interior decorating can be so self serving” says a spokesperson for Hygge Interiors.  “It’s a very surface me-me-me sort of luxury, but with the popularity of shows such as Extreme Home Makeover we realize that there is, in the average American, a great appreciation for charity and altruism.”
Can such disparate purposes actually work together?  Can we fix the world’s problems using the same tools that are often blamed for causing its problems?
Consumerism is a great power,   and studies show that women are responsible for buying 80% of household goods.  If they can be persuaded to make the right choices with their buying power they can affect a change greater than that of any policy maker.  
“Home and garden purchases drive a large percentage of the economy, so searching for fair trade companies and sustainable materials is critical.” Says Hygge.  And it can have far reaching affects. “People don’t realize that poverty is the number one cause of environmental pollution.  If we make choices that benefit third world communities we will see a huge change come about on many levels.”
So you can save the world by buying a sofa and donating just one dollar?
