New Jersey artist Mike Burro hosts an evening of eclectic music

April 29, 2009 - PRLog -- Mike Burro crisscrossed New Jersey for years, performing in venues all over the state.
Now the single Dad is happy to have found a monthly residency in a most unlikely place.
Hamilton, New Jersey, a suburb of the state capital Trenton, has been home to a local bowling alley for ages. Hamilton Lanes, somewhat hidden from view, at the bottom of an oddly placed 'jug handle to no where', possesses a lounge where bands play for about 10 hours on a given day, with all ages shows in the afternoon and early evening and 18+ events at night. 21 and over get to drink beer.

Mike Burro has been organizing a once per month concert series at Hamilton Lanes, and it seems to be taking off.  Each gig has it's own flavor, and a diversity of talent.
Area reggae/dub dj 'Selecta Jerry' spun his 'dub zone' live, and Philly's psychedelic 'Ghettosongbird' wailed with her 'Roxsplotation' band.
Mike always plays a set with his 'friends' and the chemistry seems right. He says " I like being able to gather musicians around that I feel should be heard, and be able to drive home in 15 minutes". "The people at Capital City Concerts, the company that books the venue, have been nice. They allow me the freedom to organize these events on my own".

The next show will be Friday May 8th( Mutha's Day Weekend Show ) and the talent will be as diverse as ever. This time, the show will begin with a solo guitarist/singer known as 'Astronaut Jones', who has made a name for himself in places as divergent as the Jersey shore and Africa.

Next on the roster will be progressive rock guitarist Anton Roolaart, who will perform a special semi acoustic set, along with his keyboardist. This is sure to be a rare treat for 'prog heads'.

Mike Burro & Friends will close out the bill with their usual dip into roots, blues, UK r&b, and psychedelia. In recent months Mike has been surprising with some of the song choices, like Sloterdijk's 'Uranium Zone', and Woody Guthrie's 'Hard Travellin'; a mixed bag for sure.
