May 3, 2009 - PRLog -- I don’t know about you but when I think of Nautical fashion and sailor styling the first thing that pops into my head is a Jean Paul Gaultier advert, french men with garlic hanging over their shoulders and some sort of naughty goings on in a British Carry On film! However, it would seem that today hot designers are adding the whole salty sailor maritime theme to their list of this years revelations, with some dramatic changes that work really well. Nautical fashion and styling does seem to pop up every now and again, and in many ways it almost holds an iconic image, mainly down to Jean Paul Gaultier's perfume and aftershave T.V advert. Actually nautical fashion has been around for over 150 years, with the first garment being commissioned by Queen Victoria in 1846 for her four year old son, Albert! In fact, the last major re-launch of nautical fashion was only in 2007 and this very outfit was on display at the National Maritime Museum in a sailor chic exhibition.
I guess using this kind of fashion, especially at this time of year makes a whole lot of sense as anything ship and sea related tends to conjure up powerful images of tropical paradise, golden beaches, romance and excitement so at least we’ll all be feeling hot hot hot. Traditionally, nautical colours are considered to be navy and white but now with additional flashes of bright colours fashion designers have certainly managed to create an almost cheeky yet innocent look, one that seems to have been born and inspired from a mix of sailor and tropical pirate dress.
Weather forecasters have just predicted a long dry summer here in the UK, so with a bit of luck we’ll all be soaking up the sunshine. I suppose the question has to be, ‘Where?’. Okay, so we’re all feeling the pinch at the moment and money is definitely tight, but fear not because now we can grab our colourful sailor outfits, don our bright fashion jewellery and bring some Caribbean paradise right here in Great Britain.
If you have found the outfit and are looking for some quirky fashion accessories to go with it, then why not give our French Nautical Fashion Earrings a try, http://www.seasonsonline.co.uk. Remember, dressing up in a nautical theme does not mean you have to wear the eye patch and stick a parrot on your shoulder. Most importantly the designers are trying to get across an idea of fun with the use of experimental and colourful themes, so you could even dress up in sailor pink and bling up your look still maintaining a feminine look. Good luck!
