Goodwill Opens Storefront Donation Center in Naples

Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida is opening its first storefront-style donation center in Southwest Florida on May 15th.

May 14, 2009 - PRLog -- Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida, Inc. is hoping that Neapolitans will take advantage of a new, easy way to donate near the heart of Naples.  As of Friday, May 15th, Goodwill will have a new Attended Donation Center (ADC) at Trinity Plaza (306 Tamiami Trail N.).

The new donation center will provide nearby residents with a convenient donation location just north of the city’s downtown area. It will be open and staffed with an attendant seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.  Goodwill’s existing Naples stores will also continue to accept donations during regular store hours.

“We’re trying to make donating an easy and fun experience for our donors,” says Laura Alford, Goodwill’s Director of Donor Development. “They can drive up and just pop their trunks, or they can stay a while and enjoy breakfast or lunch at one of our neighboring businesses.”

While most Goodwill ADCs in Southwest Florida are 28’ trailers, the new Naples ADC will operate out of a small storefront in the Trinity Plaza.

Goodwill’s Vice President of Retail Operations, Jennifer Swift, explains that the storefront ADC is a new concept for Goodwill. “Collier County has strict regulations regarding our traditional ADCs,” Swift says.  “Having a donation center in a storefront is a win-win.  It’s not only a more convenient way for people to donate their gently-used goods, but the storefront is a more attractive option aesthetically.”

The Naples Trinity Plaza ADC is Goodwill’s eighth in Southwest Florida, and the first ADC in Collier County.

Goodwill accepts donations of new and gently-used clothing, accessories, and household items at its ADC’s.  Customers wishing to donate larger items such as furniture are asked to make those donations at one of Goodwill’s nearby stores.  Goodwill has five Collier County retail centers, including locations on Pine Ridge Road, at Towne Centre, and on Golden Gate Parkway.

Proceeds earned from the resale of donated items are used to support Goodwill’s programs and services, including six Job-Link offices, twelve apartment complexes for people with disabilities and for low-income seniors, the Four Wheels for Work vehicle assistance program, and a school for students with developmental disabilities.  More information is available at http://www.goodwillswfl.org
