Sesame Workshop Looks to Eos

Sesame Workshop had identified the need to have Microsoft Exchange 2007 and Novell’s GroupWise 8 analyzed for the purpose of possibly replacing or upgrading their current system.    

Sesame Workshop had Novell GroupWise 8 installed in a test environment.  It was being evaluated by the Sesame Workshop staff as the upgrade path for GroupWise 7.

Eos Systems Inc. performed a comparative analysis of the email products. The analysis included an outline of Microsoft Exchange 2007 and Novell GroupWise 8 benefits, platform support, mobile device support, hardware/software requirements with costs, integration requirements with costs, personnel requirements, and training requirements. Interviews of employees of all levels were performed to ascertain the perception of the current email system as it relates to its operation,  ease of use, their skills and support.  

Eos Systems installed and configured a Proof of Concept Microsoft Exchange Server 2007. This server was used by Sesame Workshop to evaluate the functionality of the email system and to determine the benefits, if any, of a potential migration to that technology.

The software, hardware, network configuration, training, administrative and consulting costs to deploy Microsoft Exchange 2007 and Novell GroupWise 8 were analyzed and compared. The results were then presented to the executive IT committee.

Upon completion of this extensive review it was determined that GroupWise 8 was the best choice all around for Sesame Workshop.
