Dryer Vent Cleaning Technician in Dayton, Ohio, Warns Consumers about Dryer Lint Build-up

Clothes Dryers are the most likely of appliances to cause a fire; the real danger is lint build-up in the dryer exhaust ducts

June 17, 2009 - PRLog -- Dayton, OH --“Don’t Let your dryer start a fire; keep your home safe and sound,” is Dryer Vent Wizard’s slogan.  Over 15,000 house fires resulting in deaths, injuries and millions of dollars in damages occur each year as a result of clogged dryer vent systems.

In joining efforts with the NFPA, Dryer Vent Wizard is providing advice to consumers to minimize the risk of dryer fires.  Ed Rauch, owner of Dryer Vent Wizard in Ohio was recently interviewed.  Ed explained the importance of dryer vent cleaning and maintenance service.  “Lint blocks airflow needed by your clothes dryer; when heat cannot escape, clothes do not dry properly, the system overheats and eventually leads to a devastating fire,” said Rauch.

According to Ed Rauch, professional dryer vent cleaning is recommended annually to remove lint build-up and to be sure the dryer exhaust system meets current safety standards.  “Many homeowners like to do as much as they can, on their own, rather than paying for professional services.   Dryer vent cleaning is easy when the dryer ducts are short and easily accessible.  Some systems require the use of special tools and equipment.  A dryer vent cleaning and installation technician has the equipment needed to do the job.”

Do-it-yourself homeowners can purchase dryer vent cleaning tools in most hardware or home improvement stores; however, they might not be able easily access certain areas of their dryer ducts if they have an exceptionally long system.  Ed explained that in some newer homes the laundry area is located upstairs in the center of the home, near bedrooms where most laundry originates, rather than near an outside wall on the ground floor.  “If you have an exceptionally long dryer duct system, or if you are unsure as to whether or not your system is properly installed or if it meets current safety standards, it is a good idea to have a professional dryer vent specialist inspect the system, to be safe,” Ed explained.

Ed Rauch, owner of Dryer Vent Wizard, professionally inspects and cleans clothing dryers for homeowners and in commercially-owned buildings. Poorly maintained dryer vents are fire hazards and cause clothes dryers to cost substantially more to operate.  Visit http://www.ohiodryerguy.com for more information.
