Point Loma Actors’ Workshop announces the opening of Fuddy Meers, a hilarious comedy written by Pulitzer Prize winning author David Lindsay Abaire. The play is a wild adventure profiling the character, Claire, who has a rare disease of losing her memory whenever she falls asleep. This play is an outrageously dark, yet very funny story as Claire and her family deal with horribly debilitating condition. With the help of her husband and a little scrapbook she rebuilds her life each day. But today is not her usual stroll down amnesia lane. From Claire's mother, a stroke victim, to a prison escapee with a puppet, to a half deaf limping man with a lisp, this wild ride of sickos and degenerates has the ability to make you seem really normal. Fuddy Meers is directed by David Sein. The very talented cast includes Lisa Brindley as the amnesiac Claire, Ron Kubicek as her adoring husband Richard, Ken Light as the Limping Man, Elouise Potomac as Claire's stroke victim mother Gertie, John Lee as Millet, the escaped convict, Shelley Benoit as Heidi the hard nosed cop and Calvin Michaels as Kenny, Claire's angst ridden teenage son. The New York Magazine in 1999 called this play “……an antically zany new play…..” and The New York Times wrote “……heady fun…fresh, zingy dialogue, whice revels in warping the language of self-help books…..a dark, sweet and thoroughly engaging comedy.” The production will open on Friday, July 10 at the Point Loma Assembly and run through August 1, 2009. Performances will be on Friday/Saturday: Please call 619.225.0044 to reserve tickets or for more information. Tickets are also available for purchase at the door. Doors open 30 minutes prior to curtain. The Point Loma Assembly is located at 3035 Talbot Street in Point Loma ½ block north of Rosecrans.
