Aug. 4, 2009 - PRLog -- London, UK,  BrandAlley.co.uk has won two categories and taken the overall Prix d’OR in the inaugural Online Retail Awards.

Other winners include: MTR (Hong Kong), Courtside Sports (Canada), Shop.com USA, Cordings (UK), Macbeths (UK), PharmacyOnline (Australia), MyDeco.com, GreenBee (UK), John Lewis Partnership (UK), E.L.F., A.P.C. (France), Blackwell’s (UK), Jo Malone (UK), Amtrak (USA), Apple (USA), Send-a-Cow (UK), Papyrus (USA), Wyevale (UK), Ecotopia (UK), SEE Group (UK), Kempinski Hotels (Switzerland) and Ecotricity (UK). Information on all the winners, high commendations, finalists and special mentions can be found at www.onlineretailawards.com.

These unique, non-partisan awards, promoted through a top-level domain name, independent of any retailer or media owner, designer or developer, are global in scope and recognise the huge shift in public attitudes and habits, away from Main Street, the Mall and the High Street, towards online shopping – a shift that current estimates reckon will grow by a further 17% this year.

The clearly stated aim of the Awards is to seek out fine examples of excellent website experiences and effectiveness, great design, best practice and customer service and to reward them publicly, to the benefit of both the winning online retailers and their customers.

The Awards comprise 21 retail sector category awards, 4 overall achievement awards and a single top accolade, named the Prix d’OR. Categories are defined by industry sector, so food retailers compete with other food retailers; airlines’ sites with other transport operators’ sites. Early indications are that one or two categories may have two winning retailers, each, while some categories had lower quality entries and there will be no winner for 2009. But a benchmark of quality has been set for the future, with the ORA website opening for entries in the next few days.

The Online Retail Awards® are open to any traditional retailer with an online presence, online-only retailers or their digital agencies, irrespective of size of operation, provided that the web site and online activity took place during the previous calendar year. Full details of entry criteria and fees are on the Awards website at www.onlineretailawards.com.

You can register now for the 2010 Online Retail Awards® and join a growing community of traditional and online-only retailers who believe that the online experience for customers provides a pathway to success in the future. Entries for the 2010 Awards will close on February 28 and you will be able to upload entries to the simple, functional Awards’ website. There’s a useful guide to what you need to enter on the “How to Enter” page of the website.

The Online Retail Awards® were actively promoted (click here to view e-cast ad) and further support for the Awards will come from leading search engines, online payment and fulfilment services, ISPs, supply chain companies, optimization and web marketing organizations for 2010 and carefully selected media partners.
