Founded in 1999, the Barrett’s Oesophagus Campaign, incorporating the McCord Fund, is the only national charity dedicated to the prevention of cancer from Barrett’s Oesophagus and the support of people living with the disease. We aim to: * provide support and advice to people who suffer from Barrett’s Oesophagus and their relatives and friends; * support research to better understand the condition; * raise awareness to encourage early detection. In January 2008, the McCord Oesophageal Cancer Fund merged with the Barrett’s Oesophagus Foundation. Mimi McCord established the Fund in memory of her husband Michael, who died from Barrett’s adenocarcinoma without having the benefit of a previous diagnosis of Barrett’s Oesophagus. Mimi now leads the Barrett’s Support Network under the re-named Barrett’s Oesophagus Campaign. The new name of Barrett’s Oesophagus Campaign was introduced on 26 February 2009.
