DIONNE WARWICK live on tour in Asia

Aug. 6, 2009 - PRLog -- According to Billboard magazine, Dionne Warwick is second to Aretha Franklin as the female vocalist with the most Billboard Hot 100 chart hits during the rock era (1955-1999)! Warwick charted a total of 56 hits in the Billboard Hot 100! The Billboard Hot 100 Charts entitled "Top Pop Singles 1955-1999" ranked Dionne Warwick as the 20th most popular of the top 200 artists of the rock era based upon the Billboard Pop Singles Charts!

Dionne Warwick is an active artist for more than 4 decades and during her outstanding career she received grammy’s for the „Best Contemporary Female Vocal Performance“, „Best Female Pop“, „Best Female R&B Performance“ and „Best Selling Album“. In co-operation with Burt Bacharach she wrote and performed all-time classic hits like „Walk On By“ and „Reach Out For Me“. Dionne Warwick sang with the Bee Gees, Elton John and Stevie Wonder, and she was part of the legendary „We are the World“ on the “Live Aid” concert together with Michael Jackson in 1984.

Warwick was born Marie Dionne Warwick to parents Mancel Warwick, and began singing gospel as a child at the New Hope Methodist Church in East Orange. She performed her first gospel solo at the age of six and frequently joined The Drinkard Singers. Warwick's aunt Emily (Cissy) Drinkard Houston and sister, the late Delia (Dee Dee) Warwick also performed with the family group.

From 1963 she had her most successful period with world hits like „Anyone Who Had A Heart”, „Walk On By”, „Reach Out For Me”, „I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself”, „The Windows Of The World”, „I Say A Little Prayer”, „Do You Know The Way To San José”, „Valley Of The Dolls“, „Paper Mache”, „That’s What Friends Are For“ and „Heartbreaker“.
