WOOF ‘N WASH Camp Bow Wow® and Home Buddies by Camp Bow Wow® Clean Up Pups

Sept. 18, 2009 - PRLog -- Boulder, CO:  Soft, clean, silky coats will be all the rage among pups from Maine to Malibu this season, predicts Heidi Ganahl, founder and CEO of Camp Bow Wow and Home Buddies by Camp Bow Wow. Across the country, Camps are gathering supplies: doggy shampoo and conditioner, tubs and towels in preparation for the hunting hounds, muddy pups and diminutive dogs who’ll be lining up for their turn in a WOOF ‘N WASH tub. The nationwide doggy wash will benefit the Cesar and Ilusion Millan Foundation’s “Spay and Neuter is nothing to ‘Whisper’ about” campaign.  

“We’re extremely excited to have the opportunity to work with the Cesar and Ilusion Millan Foundation in support of this important initiative,” said Ganahl. “In our country alone, seven puppies and kittens are born for every one human. There just aren’t enough homes for all of the animals that need them. It’s been a problem for a very long time. That’s why it is part of our company culture for each of our Camps to work with local humane organizations to foster and find homes for as many pups as possible.  As an organization, we’ve found forever homes for over 2500 dogs.”  Each Camp Bow Wow and Home Buddies by Camp Bow Wow franchise will hold it’s own Woof ‘N Wash fundraiser between now and October 31. The fundraiser is also a competition between Camps: the lucky franchisee that cleans up the most pups and raises the most money will be flown to Los Angeles to meet the renowned dog behaviorist.

Cesar Millan, star of the National Geographic Channel’s “Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan” and his wife Ilusion, created the Cesar and Ilusion Millan Foundation in 2007 with the mission to aid and support the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of abused and abandoned dogs. “We believe there is a solution,” said Millan. “Spaying or neutering your pet can prevent unwanted births, decrease the number of dogs and cats admitted to shelters and save millions of lives.” The Millan Foundation has supported over 60 shelters and rescues across the country, and provided additional support and training resources to over 90 other organizations. Ganahl’s own Bow Wow Buddies Foundation, which is dedicated to improving the lives and health of dogs everywhere, is partnering with the Millan Foundation on this initiative.

Camps and Home Buddies are encouraged to raise money in any way they can in addition to the dog washes.  Some are holding “Spay-ghetti” dinners with silent auctions, others are working with local groomers to create Groom-a-thons, so they can offer more than just basic bathing at the event.
