Follow on Google News | How to Re-Tweet Your Way Into OblivionDoes re-tweeting someone else's information make you an expert??
By: Scott Gordon There..I said it. You know, I know and everyone else knows it the truth. There are more and more “experts” popping up daily from the efforts of others. To take it step further, are the experts that are being plagiarized experts themselves or are they doing it also? I never thought of myself as an expert in much of anything. It’s pretty ballsy to consider yourself the “end all, be all” in a particular subject in the first place. Having been called on the carpet for re-tweeting in the early days of Twitter, blogging and facebooking… I’m in 100% agreement that social networks are effective. The dispersion of information is at light speed and we are all becoming more educated because of it. What I’ve noticed more recently though is the lack of true opinion and more statement of statistics and market research that a firm such as Comscore or Forrester has spent piles of money to obtain. I’ve said in previous posts that I enjoy reading materials that don’t perpetuate the ego of the author but a true opinion on a particular topic. There are more of those types of individuals but they are, in my opinion, being over run by an army of re-tweeters, spewing everyone else’s efforts. Have a genuine idea. Do your own research and post something of value. If you must re-tweet, consider your audience. The 20x to 30x per day tweeter is being un-followed faster than any other. # # # I literally escaped the Fortune 500 company in 2004 to assist in opening an office for a now national consulting firm. That firm has grown over 2000% in just 6 years and recently named as one of the fastest growing companies in the United States by Inc. magazine. I’ve been a Partner with that firm since joining in 2004. Been there, done that, figured out a better way to do it. I’ve heard a thousand horror stories of dealing with recruiters, pimps, handlers, brokers and body shops and decided to do something about it. End
