Follow on Google News | What Would You Do To Save The Life Of A Child?Hero's are among us. George Chmiel (Boston), begins the race of his young life. He will be racing 155 miles, in 140 degree blistering heat across the Sahara Desert to help 3 year old Luci Horvath (Texas).
On October 25th, Chmiel begins the Sahara Desert Race. Touted as one of the most demanding races in the world, it stretches an exhausting 155 miles across the sands of Egypt. He is sacrificing his personal time and resources to support 3 year old Luci Horvath of Texas. "I'm going to take on this challenge. I want to make it count, impact someone's life", Chmiel said. George Chmiel was inspired into action by the frequent life threatening struggles and the love and courage within Luci's family. Luci Horvath was born with a rare, life long condition called Panhypopituitarism. Chmiel took a practice run in California's Death Valley to prepare for the heat of the Sahara Desert. It was a mere 117 degrees. A park ranger attempted to stop him but George was determined to run. A relatively new runner (only 2 years under his belt), his entrance in the dangerous Sahara Race is highly unusual. Running the race on behalf of ill children is simply extraordinary.
