Pawsitive Pit Bulls group possibly boycott the 98.1 Dreke and Zeke show.

Oct. 30, 2009 - PRLog -- Hello fellow Pit Bull owners/lovers,
I am writing to you today to inform you that this morning on 98.1, the Dreke and Zeke morning show in Memphis made some rather nasty, hateful, and very untrue comments about Pit Bulls.

For those that did not hear it, let me give you the scoop. For more than 20 minutes they went on air to thousands of viewers, talking about how Pit Bulls were bred to kill, are born killers that can never be trusted, how we should keep our cameras handy so that we can take pictures of our children when these dangerous Pit Bulls maul our children, and a long list of not just opinions, they were downright LIES!

This comes right after Captain Pat Adams from Kix 106, just last week, was on the air saying that you should never give a Pit Bull CPR if it is dying because it would eat your face off (ha-ha, I do not see the humor.)
As an advocate for Pit Bulls, I am horrified by the outright lies being spread to thousands of gullible people that listen to these radio shows.

Pit Bulls have to suffer enough at the hands of man through abuse, dogfighting, stereotypes, and now lies from radio personalities...

It may not really seem like a big deal, but it is a huge deal!
There is no dounbt that thousands of people that have never personally met a Pit Bull, but hate them because of all the hype they've heard, were listening and agreeing the lies and hatred that Drake and Zeke instilled in them.

We as breed advocates can no longer sit back and watch our breeds reputation be even further destroyed by people who do not know the love, loyalty, and courage that is the American Pit Bull Terrier..

I have written several emails to Drake and Zeke, all which were ignored.
Drake and Zeke can easily make amends by agreeing to do an on air interview with me, or another chosen representative of our group, but so far they have not responded back, so I take that as a decline on my offer.

So now I am taking it a step further to their district manager, who is Gennora Reed.

Breed discrimination is an issue that we can no longer ignore, so I am asking you to join my efforts to end, or atleast help balance out all of the negative. If we don't take a stand, where will this stop? When will this end? I can answer that... It simply won't, so we have to show them that we will not take it anymore.

If Drake and Zeke are so sure about their opinions, then they should let me provide them with facts, and they should publicly retract their blanket stataments that make all Pit Bulls look like crazy devil dogs.

To them, statements like these are vacuuming in the radio traffic like crazy...
They do not understand, or could probably care less, about the issues that responsible Pit Bull owners face on a daily basis. That is why I am prepared to show them that we do care, and it's not okay.

If I do not receive a response back, I will call on you for a boycott on the 98.1 show for the sake of all of the Pit Bulls that suffer from being unfairly targeted by breed bans and stereotyping. Also, for all of the good Pit Bull owners that are trying to make a difference, but feel like we can never get anywhere because of stunts like these.
Come Tuesday morning, if I have not heard back from someone that is interested in fixing this problem, I need for you to pass this along to anyone and everyone that you can, so that collectively, our voices can and will be heard.

I will keep you informed as to any action that will be taken.
