Business Person of the Year – Rod Flavell, CEO of FDM Group

Nov. 12, 2009 - PRLog -- Rod Flavell, CEO and founder of FDM Group, was crowned “Business Person of the Year” at the Sussex Business Awards, held at The Grand Hotel on Friday 6th November. Additionally, FDM was awarded “International Business of the Year” and “Best Employer in Sussex”.

As a young Sussex graduate, Rod founded the company in the attic of his home – a company made up of 3 people at the time (including himself). At the risk of sounding cliché, Rod’s story has proven to be an inspirational one that gives future entrepreneurs the motivation and encouragement to fulfil their career aspirations. Having founded FDM almost 20 years ago, Rod’s successes are now increasingly recognised nationally and internationally. What once began as a small family-run business has grown to become a successful international company, with offices in Brighton, London, Manchester, Frankfurt, Luxembourg, Zurich and New York.

Despite FDM’s growth, Rod remains very much the ‘F’ in FDM, leading the company and its staff forward. He is responsible for the overall strategic development and organic growth of FDM as well as its flotation on AiM (Alternative investment Market) of the London Stock Exchange, in 2005. Today, FDM works with over 200 prestigious clients in diverse markets. These include: Credit Suisse, BBC, BSkyB, HSBC, BMW, The AA, British Airways, UBS, Deutsche Bank, Swiftcover, The NSPCC, RBS and B&Q.

FDM is a professionally run organisation with an exceptionally strong management team. Loyalty is a common factor amongst FDMers, with almost 20% of staff having worked at FDM for longer than a decade. This loyalty also feeds through to FDM’s client pool, many of whom have nominated FDM as their IT services supplier of choice, having worked with the company for over 10 years.
