Failure to Clean Dryer Vents Causes Fire in Cincinnati, OH

Nov. 12, 2009 - PRLog -- Cincinnati, OH:  Dryer vent cleaning was way over due.  The residents in the University of Cincinnati’s Calhoun Hall were evacuated when a fire started in the laundry room of the basement.  The fire was caused by an overheated, clogged dryer vent.  The vent was so backed up with lint that the items in the dryer also caught fire.  The fire captain said, “It takes a long time to accumulate all that lint; and then something has to go wrong in the dryer.”  It was estimated that the lint had been building up for years.
