PTSD - Recruiting Volunteers to Help Vets with their Battle!

Nov. 14, 2009 - PRLog -- Barbara Tierney of Carmel, NY wants to help our Veterans find FREE and EFFECTIVE treatments in their battle with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Psychiatrists, NLP practitioners, Yoga instructors, Bio-Feedback providers, Reiki practitioners, Social Workers, QiGong Instructors, Acupuncturists, Hypnotherapists, Cognitive Behavior Therapists, ANYONE that can help to ease the pain and trauma that our service men and women are dealing with. These people put their lives on the line so that WE can be safe. Why not do something to help them?

A program started by clinical psychologist John Fortunato, uses a holistic approach to treating PTSD at the Fort Bliss Restoration and Resilience Center in Texas. This approach has been duplicated in other Army bases and has shown promising results.

A welcome progression forward of military culture occurred in March 2008 when the Army sought proposals for $4 million in grant monies to be spent investigating "spiritual ministry, transcendental meditation, yoga, bioenergies such as Qi gong, Reiki, [and] distant healing."]

The "Restoration and Resilience Center" at Fort Bliss is a specialized treatment facility for Soldiers with PTSD who want to remain in the Army. Beginning December 7th HealingReikiEnergy is offering free Reiki treatments at Vital Essence in Carmel and they are looking for other providers across the US to do the same. There are other local providers that have come forward to offer help, but that's just the tip of the iceburg. We need support all over the US and a central website where the soldiers can go to find the help they need. I am aware of many Reiki practitioners already offering their free services, but they are hard to find. Barbara says, "With one central Networking website and help from the VA hospitals to direct those people suffering with PTSD, I think we can really do some good!"

Tierney hopes to find help in organizing this network and setting up a website that can provide listings of providers and their expertise around the globe. Are you willing to help?
