CityTeam Thanksgiving Meals for the Homeless and Low-Income Families Around the Bay Area

Nov. 23, 2009 - PRLog -- During the entire year, CityTeam provides shelter, showers, clothing, emergency food boxes, long-term recovery programs, community outreach, children’s programs, education, medical clinics and other essential services. Our mission is to transform the lives of the homeless and low-income families so they can be empowered to transform their communities.

Thanksgiving for 2,000 low-income families.

The need is larger this year in the South Bay and we are expecting 2,000 people for our traditional Thanksgiving meal. We will also distributor over 1,000 Thanksgiving food boxes and turkeys. There will be over 100 volunteers serving and working in the kitchen. We have already delivered 1,500 Thanksgiving food boxes door to door over the weekend to registered low-income families in 48 neighborhoods within Santa Clara County.

Volunteers help cook ahead of time - cooking for 400 people

Join us at CityTeam Oakland for a traditional Thanksgiving meal for over 400 low-income families and the homeless that are struggling during this holiday season. We have already distributed 500 turkeys to low-income families and the need was much greater this year for the elderly and single mothers with children.

Volunteers help cook ahead of time - cooking for 300 people

At this location, CityTeam San Francisco will be reaching out to the community of SRO (single room occupancy) hotels for people living in poverty on 6th Street. We plan to bring all of them together to have a wonderful family style Thanksgiving meal at CityTeam on 6th Street. We expect over 300 people.
