Ltd, a leader in the Chinese information industry, and the Numerical Algorithms Group (NAG) to develop High Performance Computing resources for Chinese industries and research areas.
By: Numerical Algorithms Group Edward Chou, NAG Greater China Branch Manager notes, “Dawning is the most important High Performance Computing agency in mainland China, and NAG is very pleased to form an alliance with their first-class technical team for computer manufacture, and their associated colleagues from the Chinese Academy of Science Institute for Computer Technologies. Dawning’s ongoing innovation is outstanding, and is exemplified by Dawning 5000A at the Shanghai Super Computing Center. With the support of the National 862 Plan, Dawning 5000A has achieved a peak performance of 233 Teraflops and 180.6 Teraflops with the Linpack benchmark, placing it in the 15th place in the worlds’ top high performance computing services (Top 500 2009/06).” Cao Zhennan, Dawning Technical Support Center General Manager, commenting on the value of this new strategic partnership says, “Currently Dawning is assisting research at the forefront of in many different research areas, and this new partnership with the NAG organization will enable us to provide users with the best possible services for their needs. Numerical analysis is key to most of these research endeavors and we are glad to recommend the highest quality numerical software available in the world—the NAG routines. NAG functions win universal praise for their quality and precision and we are keen to recommend NAG algorithms for these reasons. Our new collaborative relationship with the NAG organization includes our recommendation of NAG products, technical support and mutual marketing efforts.” “Currently, most Chinese scientists are using algorithms that they have developed themselves. However, the rapid development of HPC resources in China is now compelling researchers to find more robust algorithms, such as the NAG Libraries, and be able to utilize them quickly in their applications. By making the NAG Libraries available to Dawning’s users, application development time will be significantly decreased,” according to Ted Liu, NAG Greater China General Technology Manager. Liu continues, “To programmers using HPC resources there is an enormous challenge of how to create applications that take advantage of this greater computing power, and this is precisely where the superiority of NAG’s algorithms will come into play.” About NAG The Numerical Algorithms Group (NAG, www.nag.com) -30- For editorial inquiries, please contact: Edward Chou, NAG Greater China General Manager, Edward@nag-gc.com, Tel: +886-2-25093288 or Amy Munice, ALM Communications, nag@almcommunications.com, +1-773-862-6800, (skype) ALMCommunications.
