“State Of Normal” Launches Original Twitter Fiction Using Twitter Lists

A novel use of twitter lists is part of the strategy behind the original twitter fiction, “State of Normal,” which unveiled on twitter at the close of November 2009.  Incorporating over 17 twitter characters, State of Normal follows the strange happenings in the bucolic town of Normal CA. Creators believe this is the first venture to utilize multiple twitter accounts to create an ongoing fictional story.

What's not to like about Normal?
As small towns go, Normal isn't very special at all – except for two things: an exclusive private university that caters solely to tech and neuroscience; and an array of innovative start-ups. And, oh yeah - there's an institute for the criminally insane.

Hadley Reese – new curator of the forthcoming Normal Historical Museum
Colby Stone – famous billionaire tech maverick, who is also the Mayor of Normal
Adam Tessler – Director of the Waiklund Institute for the criminally insane
Travis Opal – leader of the survivalists; ornery, with a missionary’s zeal  
Brodin Rushmore  – hunky wunderkind with a secret, and an agenda

Normal CA has a population of 4,367. Of that number 600 are students and 424 are insane.

Normal’s a small old-fashioned town set in beautiful surroundings, where life moves at a quiet pace, uninterrupted by the stress and madness of urban living. Due to its prestigious private university, Normal has attracted the future's brightest minds and is a gathering spot for start-ups looking to begin operations on the cheap. The local insane asylum adds additional jobs in staffing and security. With start-ups, the university, and the asylum, as well as survivalists living off the land, it's a vibrant mix of can-do American spirit.

Chapter 1 synopsis: “Normal is as Normal Does”
Hadley gets job at the Normal Historical Museum and then receives a disturbing note; a series of bear attacks has Police Chief Darrell Watts under the gun; survivalist Travis Opal talks conspiracy; and Daisy has a difficult welcome over at the Waiklund Institute. It all culminates with a horrific event, leaving the whole town on edge.
