Rare Antique Sterling Silver American Tea Tray For Sale

Dec. 30, 2009 - PRLog -- This American Sterling Silver Well and Tree Tray was made by International Silver Co. of Meriden Connecticut. It is hallmarked on the underside with International’s hallmark, Barbour Silver Company mark (Barbour Silver Co. was acquired by International in 1898), sterling, pattern number 3170C, 20 1/2 inches and the pattern name of “Charmont”. Charmont was first made as a flatware pattern in 1906. The holloware was probably produced in conjunction with the introduction of the Charmont pattern sterling flatware. The tray is raised on four bun feet. The rim is repousse, chased and engraved with Edwardian style floral and scroll motifs. This elegant tray is unusual in that the center is designed with a well and tree for catching and dispensing entrée drippings. Most sterling platters designed for serving are not of the well and tree design. Weight: 64 Troy Ounces. Length: 21 Inches. Condition: Excellent Estate Condition.   Price: $2,500
