Dec 10, 2009 -- Mr. Kevin King is President/CEO of Fharro Recording, Entertainment, and Publishing Company of Atlanta, GA. Also, former vice President of A&R at Blackball Records (ATL) set out in 2002 in seek of fresh talent whom he could teach the mechanics of the music industry through what he coined "ownership empowerment" which some may say is a novel idea in the sometimes hostile entertainment community which has left many artist penniless after scoring in some cases very high volume hit songs.
Education is key to solving this dilemma he states" I try to teach my Artist to apply today’s lessons to tomorrow’s business challenges and learn to work hand in hand with this newly created network of peers and consumers called the Internet." Our first project titled "We Been Here" which is a compilation of spirited songs from a group called The Hogtyeboyz.
Major Recording Labels are not producing the vast amounts of quality music available today, artists are living in a time of empowerment and have direct access to outlets never before available without substantial funding. With this new found power there is responsibility to educate oneself concerning entertainment, marketing, publishing, and distribution. It is amazing that Hip Hop Music accounted for $3.5 billion in ring tone sales in 2005, and these numbers are growing with the entrance of independent labels which is why I selected the Hogtyeboyz. Most projects I hear speak only to one frame of mind however I found diversity in Hogtyeboyz music speaking about current social issues and stereotypes: black on black crime, fatherhood, education, and substance abuse. Their ability to convey this message in an entertaining way caught my attention. This inspired me to place them in the recording studio with Alvin Spieghts one of Atlanta’s top producers and multi Grammy award winning engineer. Hogtyeboyz were introduced to Reggie at Yes Sir Productions which resulted in very popular underground single "Like A Star".
"To see an artist from the inner-city get emails from all over the United States, the United Kingdom and even Japan, in response to their Music is without measure. It is my hope that these young men and women go on to have very successful hip hop rap, Pop. Metal, Gospel ,and R&B careers knowing and understanding their music is a product with a value."
