Feb. 5, 2010 - PRLog -- LONDON, February 6th – Malaysia’s Most Outstanding Youth Awards Winner – Michael Teoh is set to join a group of the world’s most influential future leaders at One Young World, a global summit for youths among 192 countries.

Michael was ‘Elected’ by Malaysian youths to represent the country to One Young World, where he would share and debate on global issues, representing the voices of Malaysian young leaders with 192 other countries’ most influential and dynamic youths, all elected by their peers. Being one of the ‘Most Voted’ candidate in Malaysia through Facebook, Michael has earned the rights for a ticket to London, and to present our Malaysians’ perspectives and solutions for global issues like New Media, Politics, Global Business, Environmental Protection and so much more.

“It is indeed an honour to represent Malaysia, as we are seeing how youths are now being engaged to generate innovative solutions for our world. This will be a truly global platform for our Malaysian perspectives to be heard!” says Michael, who has also represented the country on several occasions to global business and youth conferences around the world. He is an active member and advisor to global youth organisations like AIESEC and Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE).

In Malaysia, he has won numerous awards honoured to him by the country and the youths for his contributions towards the development of young people. Michael was previously elected as one of Malaysia’s Most Outstanding Youths in 2008, voted by the people through Short-Text-Messaging (SMS) votes. He was also appointed as the Youth Catalyst for the global entrepreneurial movement – The Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) last year, in which he spearheaded several enterprise projects among the youths, uniting more than 10,000 youths to launch 100 enterprise projects across the country. He has also been invited to participate in the Harvard Business Conference and this April, he will be participating in the prestigious Stanford University Summit, with a chance to visit the headquarters of Facebook and meet Mark Zuckerberg. Michael holds a Bachelors Degree in Marketing and International Business from New Zealand and is now eyeing his sight to pursue his Executive Programme with leading MBA school – INSEAD.

Upon being elected, Michael has embarked on the creation of a youth report, aimed to educate global leaders and local authorities on ideas, solutions and the visions of young leaders from Malaysia for the world. Within one week, he has united more than 500 young leaders in Malaysia who collectively commands an estimated 36,000 youth members in their communities. Using the unconventional way of approaching these leaders, platforms and groups on Facebook, university movements and voluntary organisations, were approached to gather their respective insights on what ‘Change’ they would want to share and see in the world.

The report will be known as the Malaysia – Our Future Says...Youth Report, a compilation of quotes, research and stories of individual youth leaders in Malaysia. This report will be presented to the global leaders present at One Young World, and will be available for local authorities to refer to.

“It was a small experiment to collect the ideas of our own young Malaysian leaders, scattered through various mediums, both online and offline. Collectively if given more time, we could have gotten more than 1 million ‘Ideas’ as each of these youth leaders have an average of 1,000 members in  their groups on Facebook, and we have approached 500. You can do the maths,” smiles Michael Teoh, who now consult companies and NGOs on youth development projects.

Michael’s ambition with One Young World and the Malaysia – Our Future Says...Youth Report was made possible through the support of MSC Malaysia and the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC).
