Midsomer Murders - The New Barnaby Joins John Nettles on Exclusive Acorn Media DVD Release

Feb. 9, 2010 - PRLog -- Neil Dudgeon has been announced as John Nettles successor in the lead role on ITVs successful detective drama Midsomer Murders. He will be introduced during Wednesday’s episode The Sword of Guillaume as DCI John Barnaby who also works in the force in Brighton.

In the latest episode, The Sword of Guillaume, Barnaby joins a trip from Midsomer Parva to Brighton because he's suspicious about a deal to buy coastal land for holiday chalets by Causton's mayor.

When a hated property developer and a voluptuous hotelier are beheaded, Barnaby starts to piece together the puzzle of The Sword of Guillaume with the help of Neil Dungeon who plays Tom Barnaby’s cousin John Barnaby.

Commenting today John Nettles said:  “It has been a joy to be involved in such a long running series, with so many good actors and great storylines.  If Neil has half the good times that I have had on Midsomer then he will be in seventh heaven.  I am only worried that he is much younger than I am and a much better actor!”

Producer Brian True-May added:  “Having worked with Neil Dudgeon twice on Midsomer Murders already, I feel he is the perfect choice.  I admire him as an actor and know he will be a wonderful addition to the team and a great ambassador for the series.”

Peter Fincham, ITV’s Director of Television, Channels and Online said:  “We’re delighted Neil will carry on the Barnaby name.  He’s a fine actor and we’re pleased he’s agreed to join the series.  John has been hugely instrumental in creating a much loved character and a highly successful long running series for ITV and we’re very grateful to him.”

The DVD of The Sword of Guillaume is now available for pre-order on Acorn Media UK and is ready to be dispatched from 18th February and will be the only place you can order the DVD until a general release later in the year.
