Feb. 10, 2010 - PRLog -- Computer eye strain may cause many eye problems such as blurred vision, eye stress, dry eye syndrome, tiredness, increased shortsightedness and other eyes problems.  Eye experts suggest that eyestrain caused by too much working in front of computers  may also trigger the risk of having glaucoma.

To eliminate the those risks, here are seven simple things to get rid of the stress, pain and tension at once.

1. Minimize the monitor brightness
The brightness of your monitor as well as glare from walls may cause computer eye strain. To minimize the computer screen’s glare, you can install anti-glare screen on you monitor and to reduce the walls bright glare, you may want to choose darker color with a matte finish.

2. Adjust lighting
Computer eye strain is frequently caused by excessively bright light or too weak light. When you are working with your computer, try to use about half of the lighting that normally found in most offices.

3. Use a better display.
Flat-panel liquid crystal display (LCD) like those on laptop computer is much better than old tube-style monitor. LCD screens are more friendly to the eyes and usually equipped with an anti-reflective surface. Old-fashioned CRT screens often cause "flicker" on the screen, a major source of computer eye strain.

4. Breaks often
Take 2-3 minutes breaks every 15-20 minutes or 5 minutes every 30 minutes. Short, frequent breaks are better than longer ones.

5. Adjust your computer viewing.
Eye experts suggest that proper viewing distance is 20-24 inches and the correct viewing angle is 10 to 20 degrees from mid-screen to the top of the screen.

6. Your wrist should be relatively straight while typing to reduce shoulder pain. If your works need to use computer mouse for long, use wrist support pads.

7. After finishing your work, do some relaxing eye exercises like palming, thumb focusing and scanning. These eye exercises can help to increase the flexibility of your eyes and, reduce computer eye strain effectively.

If you cannot adjust your viewing distance or working with straight wrist as recommended above, it is possible that you may have eyesight problems.  In this case vision correction should be taken immediately. You do not have to wear eye glasses or lenses in solving eyesight problems, because there are now various of natural eyes treatment to improve your vision.
