Robert Rauschenberg brought to Southwest Florida a giant door, a metaphoric door leading to unbounded creativity. As he pushed his own art into unexplored realms, so he flung open the door for future avant-garde artists to walk through, should they chose to do so.

Yes, perhaps, by letting his creative instincts flourish grandly in this subtropical land, he has shown all of us the way to nurture avant-garde thought under any circumstance. The divine Mr. RR brought us the torch and the key, gifts to be cherished and utilized.

Artist Raymond Hernandez moved to Labelle with his family when he was a kid. One day just by chance or perhaps destiny he saw his first modern art work: Robert Rauschenberg’s Goat Tire sculpture titled Monogram. Ray never looked anywhere else for his future. He was an artist from that moment on. Nurturing his art and his bromeliads with sunshine and grit, Ray has an art language all his own, filled with awe and spirit.

Veron Ennis, familiar with the Museums and Galleries in the D.C. area, always knew that painting was her calling. Immediately upon graduating from college, she started painting with a passion. Family and work brought her to SWFL where she found a group of like-minded artists exploring the uncharted territories of their potential. She found the underground in a most unlikely place.

Painter and Tattoo Artist, Andy Howl paints tinted monochromatic cartoon canvases. A product of a culture immersed in comics and pop art, Andy has always been an artist. He started this current series of painted comics when he moved to SWFL. The words spoken by the cartoon characters are Andy’s words, the images are emblems of cartoon language. Taken from life or comics, his paintings emerge as a modern visual haiku.

Lily Hatchett is an art machine, busily creating and listening to tales and legends of the worlds she traveled. Her art speaks many languages used to breathe life into her tales of the invisible. Her wide range of artistic approaches generate a rhythm of paper, paint, color and unexpected solutions.

David Hatchett cuts the edge every which way. Riveting, sawing, bolting, staining, painting his way to fine art.

Witness how a cultural vortex creates itself out of sheer possibility.

Opening Reception March 13th 6-10pm with a additional reception on March 25th 6-10pm
