Follow on Google News | Young Film Director Kyle Shea Wins Award at Miami Film FestivalEmerging filmmaker Kyle Shea has won the 2010 Florida Focus Miami Mini award at the Miami International Film Festival for his dark comedy short film “Where It Stops.”
By: Smith & Knibbs Since Shea graduated in May 2009 from Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University in Los Angeles, his film has been screened on both coasts, at the Boston Film Festival, the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival and the Big Bear Lake International Film Festival in California. Nominated for the best editing award at Chapman, the film also received the Audience Award for best student film at Big Bear. It screens this week at the Beverly Hills Shorts Festival. “Where It Stops” follows 78-year-old Barbara Stack through her “golden years” at Willow Creek Assisted Living Residences. Weary with redundancy and compliance, Barbara searches for her last shot of life with the help of her fellow residents, Lilly and Joanne. An emerging storyteller from Fort Lauderdale, Shea interned at NBC 6 and Telemundo network in Miami and has launched an action sports production company.
