March 19, 2010 - PRLog -- Article Spinning is a black hat SEO technique that lowers the quality of search engine results with low quality content. Allegedly designed to repurposes articles its one and only true purpose is to create link spam in order to promote sites that can’t gain high quality back links naturally. The marketing hype that surrounds Article Spinning Software is very convincing, and necessarily so, who in their right mind would respond to marketing based on a product that creates spam and turns the user into a spammer the first time they used it.

Amongst the hype, smokescreens and misdirection’s used to promote article spinning software are claims of creating unique content. This is completely untrue, how can one article that simply paraphrases another be seen as unique. Spun articles are totally dependent on the ideas and concepts conveyed in the original article. Anyone having the misfortune to read multiple spun articles will learn nothing more than someone who had read only one. What is unique about that? Absolutely nothing!

Anyone who is pro article spinning is probably thinking I have completely missed the point, which is, unique refers to getting the articles seen as unique by search engines. This is done to escape Google´s duplicate content filters, occupy multiple search engine listings and generate multiple links to the spammers money site or splog. The real point is, article spinning does not take into account the needs of the reader or improving their experience it’s purely an exercise in gaining inbound links and gaming search engine algorithms. Unfortunately, this is the text book definition of search engine link spam.

Article Sinning Software is the tool of choice among plagiarists. Plagiarism has reached epidemic proportions online, often legitimate businesses will find low quality spun copies of their own content outranking them or causing their content to be seen as the duplicate and filtered out of the results by Google.

If a spammer steals your content and uploads it to a site that Google deems more authoritative than yours most likely the authoritative site will be seen as the originator and your page will disappear. This is a real danger for both new sites that have gained little authority with search engines and even long established sites with low PageRank.

If you find that your content has been spun or plagiarized report it to Google immediately. Google are currently experimenting with a new algorithm to help find link spam but in the mean time that are seeking your assistance in finding sites that promote link spam. Don’t let them get away with stealing and copying your hard work!
