March 24, 2010 - PRLog -- SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (March 24, 2010) – The Scottsdale Healthcare Golf Classic is ratcheting up its fun quotient by adding a Million-Dollar Shootout and celebrity pro golfer Gary McCord to the field for one of the Valley’s longest-running premiere charity golf tournaments. Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the popular event is set for April 9-10 at McCormick Ranch Golf Club.

Proceeds benefit the Scottsdale Healthcare Neighborhood Outreach Action for Health (NOAH) program, which provides primary healthcare services to more than 6,100 uninsured children and families in Scottsdale and Paradise Valley school districts. Programs like NOAH are increasingly important for those affected by the economy and state budget uncertainties.

A limited number of amateur entries are still available for the Scottsdale Healthcare Golf Classic.

“Scottsdale Healthcare’s NOAH program meets a critical need in our community. Through the support of the Golf Classic, we are able to provide primary care services, preventive care and vaccinations, as well as access much needed medical and dental services,” said Jayme Ambrose, RN, director of Community Health Services for Scottsdale Healthcare.

“Without access to services provided through NOAH, studies show more than 70% of these individuals would go without care or wait until their condition worsened and seek more expensive emergency care,” she added.

Golf pro and CBS golf analyst Gary McCord is among this year’s entries, not only playing in the event but also emceeing the Friday night dinner and silent auction. New to the tournament and adding incentive to the field is a Million Dollar Shootout sponsored by Qwest.

The Qwest Million Dollar Shootout will be April 10 on the 9th hole of the McCormick Ranch Palm Course. Each of the five participants will have one shot at making a hole-in-one for $1 million. Names of shootout qualifiers will be announced during the banquet following Friday’s round, determined by closest to the pin on four designated par 3s on April 9.
