China Mobile launches CMMB Mobile TV

March 25, 2010 - PRLog -- China Mobile announced the commercial launch of its mobile TV service. This offer will use China Multimedia Mobile Broadcasting (CMMB) technology, a mobile television standard developed by SARFT (State Administration of Radio, Film and Television) in China. This technology uses both satellites and terrestrial, like DVB-SH in Europe.

China Mobile targets 500 million users. The service will offer 6 channels including 4 national channels and 2 local channels. The offer will cover 27 provinces, which represents more than 300 cities across China. 67 models of mobile handsets enabled are available in the market.
