KFI's Neil Saavedra Is Speaker at Southeast Ventura County YMCA's National Day of Prayer Breakfast

April 5, 2010 - PRLog -- THOUSAND OAKS, CALIF.--Neil Saavedra, host and producer of the nationally syndicated "Jesus Christ Show" airing locally on Sunday mornings on KFI-AM 640, is the keynote speaker for the Southeast Ventura County YMCA's 11th Annual National Day of Prayer Breakfast. The breakfast will be held Thursday, May 6 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. at the Gilbert Sports Center at Cal Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.

   Saavedra is heard around the country on 34 stations. He is known for compassionately listening and responding to callers as they look for answers to their life struggles or theological questions. "Neil draws listeners from all denominations to his show," says Rick Politte, president and CEO of the Southeast Ventura County YMCA, serving the Conejo Valley Simi Valley and Moorpark. "He's a dynamic, inspirational individual and we're fortunate to have him as our speaker at the breakfast."

   Last year, more than 400 people attended the prayer breakfast. "People of all faiths are attracted to the prayer breakfast because it is a time of unity and a time to celebrate our many blessings," says Steve Edwards, event chair. "People leave the breakfast energized and with new hope and optimism."

   In addition to Saavedra, the morning will include five prayer invocators from different faiths and spiritual and community leaders: Cantor Kenny Ellis, Temple Beth Haverim, Dennis Gillette, mayor of Thousand Oaks, Pastor Dick Margeson, Oaks Christian School, Rev. Joseph Scerbo, S.A., Ph.D., Saint Paschal Baylon and Rev. Dr. Betty Stapleford Conejo Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship.  Mary Olson, KCLU general manager will be the master of ceremonies and CLU women’s and men’s quartet will be providing the music.
