April 12, 2010 - PRLog -- The Chicago Hinduism Summit has finalized its speakers and awardees for the ‘Vishwa Hindu Ratna’. Noted human rights activist of Interfaith Strength, Dr. Richard Benkin, respected Hindu scholar of Geeta Mandir, Dr. Sanjay Mehrotra and President of Sanatan Dharma Foundation, Shri. Kalyan Vishwanathan are among the selected speakers and awardees. The ‘Vishwa Hindu Ratna’ translates into ‘World’s Jewel of Hinduism’ and is awarded for selfless service to humanity through Hinduism based values and solutions.

The Chicago Hinduism Summit or Hindu Dharma Sabha will be held at the Lemont Temple on 24 April 2010 (Adhik Vaishakh Krushna – Kamala - Ekadashi 5112 as per the Hindu calendar.) It is being organized by charitable organizations, including the Lemont Temple, Forum for Hindu Awakening (FHA) and Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS). With blessings from Saints like Sri Sri Ravi Shankar of the Art of Living Foundation, there is growing interest in the Hinduism Summit, a 3.5-hour event that brings together technology and ancient tradition to present noted Hindu scholars, activists, and latest spiritual research on Hinduism concepts and issues.

The Hindu community is often misunderstood due to misconceptions, such as ‘Hindus worship many gods’, ‘Hinduism propagates the caste system’, ‘Hinduism gives an inferior status to women’, ‘Hindu rituals are superstition’, and so on. The Hinduism Summit aims to create an awakening about Hinduism by dispelling such misconceptions. The Hinduism Summit also aims to promote an understanding about the unique science behind Hindu practices, and provide practical guidance on living Hinduism. It hopes to unite everyone interested in Hinduism, to preserve Hinduism for its unique spiritual scientific basis that holds out concrete solutions for the environmental crisis, religious intolerance, terrorism, crime, immorality, and so on.

The Chicago Hinduism Summit organizers are considering invitations to hold similar Summits to benefit communities in Chicago, Washington DC, San Francisco and Dallas in the coming months. A special feature of this event is that it will be webcast live on FHA and HJS websites for anyone around the globe to attend.
