April 13, 2010 - PRLog -- NEW YORK and ANAHEIM, Calif. – Ilya Salkind, executive producer of the original Superman movie franchise, will make a special appearance at Anaheim Comic Con, Friday through Sunday at the Anaheim Convention Center, meeting fans, signing autographs and hosting a panel (Saturday, 2 p.m.) in which he discusses the Academy Award-winning films and his career.

“I am looking forward to greeting fans and talking about the Superman films and other projects,” said Salkind.  “It is satisfying to see so many people who still enjoy those movies, and the new generations who are getting introduced to them for the first time.”

Salkind, now president and CEO of The Ilya Salkind Company, ranks among an elite group of producers whose films have generated more than $3 billion in adjusted worldwide revenue, with an adjusted average of $250 million per movie.  The Academy Award winning Superman: The Movie also has the distinction of being the first major Comic Book film adaptation ever made. Under his supervision, this film and its first two sequels became worldwide blockbusters.

Salkind's first venture into television, “Superboy,” also proved successful, lasting four seasons for a total of 100 episodes and is now a huge hit on DVD.  In the years following the success of 'Superboy,” Salkind focused his energies on the youth oriented feature Young Alexander the Great.  During that period he also executive produced The Richard Donner Cut of Superman II.

“Ilya Salkind is a legend in the filmmaking world, and we are excited and honored that Anaheim Comic Con attendees will have the opportunity to meet and talk to him,” said Gareb Shamus, Wizard Entertainment CEO.

Anaheim Comic Con brings together fans of comics, toys, collectibles and offers a chance to see actors, writers, artists and the best each industry has to offer.
