April 15, 2010 - PRLog -- New York, April 15, 2010 – Pro Bono Net announced today that the Immigration Advocates Network (http://www.immigrationadvocates.org) has been nominated for Best Law Site in the 14th Annual Webby Awards.

Hailed as the "Internet's highest honor" by the New York Times, The Webby Awards is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet.

The Immigration Advocates Network (IAN) is a free national online network that supports legal advocates working on behalf of immigrants' rights.  It was developed by Pro Bono Net, a national nonprofit dedicated to increasing access to justice, and 11 leading immigration advocacy organizations, with support from the Carnegie Corporation of New York.

"Nominees like the Immigration Advocates Network are setting the standard for innovation and creativity on the Internet," said David-Michel Davies, executive director of the Webby Awards. "It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best from the nearly 10,000 entries we received this year."

"CLINIC is proud of IAN for its innovative approach to presenting essential training resources to its network of nonprofit immigration advocates and legal services providers. IAN's commitment to creative and user-friendly design is reflected in its fantastic website and the impressive and continued growth of its network,” said Maria Odom, Executive Director of Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC), one of IAN’s partner organizations.

“IAN is honored to be recognized for its work increasing access to justice for low-income immigrants.  In just two years IAN has become a go-to resource for over 3,800 immigration advocates in 50 states, providing crucial online tools, trainings and resources that enable advocates to provide quality services to their clients,” said IAN Project Coordinator Matthew Burnett.

As a nominee, IAN is also eligible to win a Webby People's Voice Award, which is voted online by the global Web community. From now until April 29th, IAN fans can cast their votes in The Webby People's Voice Awards at http://webby.aol.com.

Winners will be announced on May 4th, 2010 and honored at a star-studded ceremony in New York City on June 14th where they will have an opportunity to deliver one of The Webby Awards’ famous five-word speeches.
